The Little Black Jacket

Recently, we have gathered a series of images starred by actresses, models and other glamorous personalities, to form part of the book The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld (Steidl, Göttingen, 2012), and are traveling the world in an exhibition. After Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong, the portraits will be exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London until 28 October, then continue their tour of Moscow, Berlin and Paris.

Of course, no one has wanted to miss the opening ceremony in London. Models, designers and others have joined the celebration by staining the London night of glamor, with the color black as the protagonist.

A man's jacket, the uniform of the staff of a luxury hotel in Austria, was the motif in which Mademoiselle Gabrielle was inspired to create his classic tweed jacket. In its fight against the New Look of Christian Dior, the French designer considered away from the needs of the modern woman, Coco wanted "to give the woman who were comfortable garments that could be used to drive, but at the same time enftizasen their femininity ".

Recientemente, se han reunido una serie de imágenes protagonizadas por actrices, modelos y otras personalidades glamourosas, para formar parte del libro The Little Black Jacket: Chanel´s Classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld (Steidl, Göttingen, 2012), y están recorriendo el mundo en una exposición. Después de Tokyo, New York, Taipei y Hong Kong, los retratos se expondrán en la Saatchi Gallery de Londres hasta el 28 de octubre, Posteriormente, continuarán su recorrido por Moscú, Berlín o París.

Por supuesto, nadie ha querido perderse la inauguración en Londres. Modelos, diseñadores y demás se han sumado a la celebración tiñendo la noche londinense de glamour, con el color negro como protagonista.

Una chaqueta de hombre, la del uniforme de los camareros de un lujoso hotel de Austria, fue el motivo en el que se inspiró Mademoiselle Gabrielle para crear su clásica chaqueta de tweed. En su lucha contra el New Look de Christian Dior, que la diseñadora francesa consideraba alejado de las necesidades de la mujer moderna, Coco pretendía “dar a la mujer prendas para que estuviesen cómodas, que pudieran usar para conducir, pero que a la vez enftizasen su feminidad”.
